What Makes Us Special
At Palmetto Health Children's Hospital Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, our physicians are board certified in both pediatrics and pediatric hematology and oncology. They are highly experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and blood disorders. They serve on the faculty of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, constantly broadening their knowledge through teaching and research. Our staff includes a nurse practitioner and a patient and family educator who provide complex nursing treatment, and navigation through the healthcare system. Our team also includes skilled social workers, therapists, nutritionists, and child-life specialists, all of whom play an active role in your child's care. We are the only federally funded hemophilia center in the state and we serve both children and adults.
Our Children's Cancer Research Laboratory is dedicated to identifying the causes and cures of childhood cancer. We are a member of the Children's Oncology Group, the largest clinical research organization for childhood cancers in the world. Its affiliation with more than 250 leading cancer institutes allows us to consult with a vast network of cancer experts who can give us valuable insight on difficult cases. And we also have the advantage of being part of a large hospital system, Palmetto Health, giving us access to the knowledge and skills of many pediatric specialists.
